I love florals and botanical prints although usually not of the tropical variety. However, this summer I have embraced my inner beachcomber and flaunted the tropics on more than one occasion. Maybe it speaks to how crazy this summer has been and how in need of a reprieve I am. =)
This month’s outfit was actually the result of a small, impulsive, ill-advised (but ultimately mentally beneficial) shopping spree, and it is easily one of my favorite dresses I’ve bought in recent years. It is light, breezy, and comfortable with long flutter sleeves that allow room for exaggerated gestures (which I am very fond of) and a tie-on belt that’s figure-flattering. And of course, in the spirit of the islands, I had to pose with the enormous banana plants we inherited when we bought our house.
This month’s book pick (which was sadly missing from last month’s post; I do apologize) is Penguin on Vacation for obvious reasons. I have a vacation coming up toward the end of August, and although I’m not sure what I’ll be doing yet, I sure hope it’s as relaxing as the beachy atmosphere of my outfit and this book. Yoon’s illustrations are always extra charming, and from the moment I first laid eyes on Penguin and Pinecone, I knew I needed to own all of Penguin’s adventures.
Below are some other outfit accessories.
