This week has been a rollercoaster ride, but we are definitely on the downhill slope toward summer reading! We had a department meeting on Monday to go over everything with our staff before we jump in at the beginning of June, we finished up our last few school visits to promote (I’ll be hearing my own nasally alien voice in my head on repeat for months to come), I finished up the last of my school year outreach programming (check out my Instagram for the AMAZING gift the kids gave me!), and just last night, Kip and I pulled a late shift to start putting up decorations.
I’m not someone who is good at remembering to take my vacation time, so it turns out I have several hours that need to be taken now before they’re gone. After today, I’m looking forward to five days of relaxation, although sometimes when I’m away from work, I tend to get a little panicky (in true Leslie Knope fashion). I am going to try my hardest to enjoy my free time before I jump right into summer outreach next Thursday.
What is your summer reading prep looking like right now? Are you pretty much ready to go or do you still feel like you have everything to do? I’d love to hear your techniques for winding down and de-stressing during the most hectic time of year for library professionals. I need some advice! =P
